17/10/2006 :: European Directive RoHS at Grameyer

In reference to the European Directive 2002/95/EC relative to the “ restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment…” and considering the fact that there have been no alterations up to now that invalidate the dispositions of article 2nd , and in accordance to the understanding of Grameyer Equipamentos Eletrônicos, the products and equipment it manufactures comply with at least one of the following conditions:

1) Final product not subject to RoHS: Grameyer understands that when its electronic equipment are added by its clients to a product that is out of the scope of the RoHS, this final product (with the Grameyer equipment added to it) is not covered by this directive.

2) Category 9: It is Gremeyer understanding that in the way the electronic equipment is furnished to its clients, they are duly classified as being equipment for “monitoring and controlling”, falling into category 9 described in Annex 1A of Directive 2002/96/EC. According to article 2nd of Directive 2002/95/EC which states: “ ….the present directive is applicable to electrical and electronic equipment covered by categories 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 10 as defined in Annex 1 A of Directive 2002/96/CE (WEEE)…” , Grameyer understands that this directive presently applies to the above mentioned categories, but not to categories 8 and 9. Given the above considerations, Grameyer understands that the RoHS directive does not apply to the electronic equipment it manufactures.

If a Grameyer customer considers that the requirements of the RoHS directive must be applied to a Grameyer electronic product, be it for the purpose of this dierctive or by the fact of being applicable to another piece of equipment, the customer should contact its local Grameyer representative or the Grameyer commercial department. The request to comply to any of the requirements of the directive should be sent to Grameyer as a commercial proposal addressed contractually on a bilateral basis.Considering the values and beliefs that prevail at this company, it is important to point out that the reduction of the use of hazardous substances in the electronic equipment it manufactures is a process that has been put in place gradually and constantly, through the use of components that are free of these substances as wel as through the use of production lines solely for this purpose.

Any doubts that Grameyer customers may have on the above mentioned matters may be sent to the Grameyer commercial department via e-mail contato@grameyer.com.br or by phone +55 47 3374 1356 or by fax +55 47 3374 1344.
